As a 4th grade regular education teacher for the past 14 years I have been witness to a noticeable change in children academically, socially, and emotionally. In the past many students embraced challenges and had the mindset and perseverance to stick with tasks a LOT longer than they do today. With increased national levels of student reported stress, many social emotional learning programs (which were once geared more towards special education) are now being implemented as a means to address the coping skills deficits that have been noticed for the larger population in regular education from k-12. Of course I worry about my own 8 and 4 year old as I have been witness to this obvious shift with students becoming more emotional over minor mistakes, more easily distracted, lack self-esteem, and an overwhelming hesitancy to step out of their comfort zone or “fail”. Mr. Jeff is an incredible teacher! His demeanor, connection to the students, class to home curriculum, and ability to continuously weave such important character building skills within his day to day teaching of martial arts, has been such an AWESOME experience for my son. I feel so much better knowing that each class he is learning self-defense intertwined with crucial life skills such as respect for himself and others, focus, awareness of his surroundings, mindfulness, perseverance, and self- control. Literally following his first class with Mr. Jeff, I noticed SUCH a shift in his self-awareness, ability to focus, and to maintain self-control. His teachers at school are thrilled, my son’s more happy and proud, and we are too!

I can’t say enough about Mr. Jeff. He was a student in my first grade classroom, and many years later an amazing karate instructor for my son. He has a kind, patient manner with children of all ages and abilities. He guided my son from white belt to black belt and instilled the necessary confidence and support needed to be truly successful in all aspects of life. We will forever be grateful for everything he has done for our family. He is a true role model for all of his students. I highly recommend!

Mr.Jeff did our intro and was there from the beginning of our sons journey to accomplish his black belt. He encouraged our son with patience and passion. Took the extra time when needed to help him out one on one. Always encourage to do his best and try his hardest to learn.
We recommend Mr. Jeff’s Program to other families because he teaches with lots of guidance and grace. Shows them faith in themselves when they lack it. He has the heart to help everyone with the same attitude and attention. Mr. Jeff also has his own children in classes and shows all students the same attention with no favoritism. Our son (when he first started this program) had anger issues as well as shyness and didn’t know how to stand up for himself. He is now able to channel his anger and calm himself on his own. He helps out in classes and helps others students when needed with confidence. He no longer lets his friends or himself get picked on by bullies in school. My son began training with Mr. Jeff about 2 years ago. Mr. Jeff is truly a great instructor, who shows compassion, patience, and an innate ability to work with students who have disabilities. His unique style in adapting each students’ ability to the class is truly refreshing!
